Amazon, in partnership with ERI, has decided to celebrate America Recycles Day on November 15, 2018 by hosting free e-waste collection events in five cities across the country. The event will be held between 11 am and 7 pm local time at Redmond, WA; San Jose, CA; Denver, CO; Landover, MD and Arlington, TX. Residents could drop off personal e-waste items at these events.

Kitt Karhohs, senior manager for sustainability services at Amazon stated that the events highlight the company’s ongoing commitment to making electronics recycling easy for consumers. The events will contribute to reduce environmental footprints and divert recyclable products from ending up in landfills. Meantime, ERI stated that it will ensure secure digital data destruction before the electronics items are processed at its certified facilities.

The list of accepted items include phones, cable boxes, computers, hard drives, fax machines, microwaves, speakers, stereos and televisions. On the other hand, no batteries, light bulbs or devices that contain liquid will be accepted during the event.

The drop-off locations will have ERI recycling experts to educate the public on the need for proper disposal and recycling of end-of-life electronics items. The Amazon Treasure Trucks on the sites will thank participant residents for stopping by and properly recycling their old and unwanted electronics.
